Twice a day, the ocean rises and falls because the Moon is where it is. This is not a metaphor and not a belief. It is measurable to the centimetre, predictable years ahead, and the same equations that place the Moon in your birth chart place the tide in a harbour timetable.
So the question "can a distant body affect things on Earth?" is settled. It can, and it does, continuously. Gravity does not care about distance in the way intuition suggests — it cares about mass and the inverse square of that distance, and it never switches off.
But here is where an honest page has to stop and turn around. The tide responds to the Moon because an ocean is enormous, fluid, and free to move across a whole planet. A human body is small, and the tidal force the Moon exerts across it is smaller than the force from a person standing beside you. Anyone who tells you the tides prove astrology works on people has skipped the step where you check the size of the effect.
The tide proves something narrower and still worth holding: that we live inside a system of moving bodies whose positions are exactly calculable, and whose rhythms have shaped how humans mark time for as long as we have marked it.
Nakshatra. The Moon's path around the ecliptic is divided into 27 segments of 13°20′ each. Your birth nakshatra is simply which segment the Moon occupied at your first breath. There is nothing mystical in the measurement — it is an angle, and we compute it from NASA's DE440 ephemeris to a fraction of an arcsecond.
Dasha. Vimshottari dasha takes that Moon position and unwinds a 120-year cycle from it, dividing your life into periods ruled by different grahas. The arithmetic is fixed and public. Two astrologers with the same birth data get the same dates, or one of them has made an error.
Gochar. Transits: where the planets are today, read against where they were when you were born. Saturn takes about two and a half years to cross a sign, Jupiter about one. These are slow rhythms, which is why the tradition treats them as chapters rather than moods.

The leap from "the Moon was at 2° Libra" to "you are self-sufficient in a way that can become isolation" is not a scientific inference. It is an interpretive tradition built over millennia of people watching other people, encoded in symbols and handed down. It has not been demonstrated under controlled conditions, and the studies that have looked have generally not found what astrologers predicted.
We think you deserve to read that on the same page that offers you a reading. Two things can be true: the mathematics can be exact, and the meaning laid over it can remain unproven.
So do not believe blindly — a chart that cannot be wrong is worth nothing. And do not dismiss reflexively either; a symbolic system that has helped people think about their own lives for two thousand years is at minimum an interesting mirror. Use it as a lens, hold it lightly, and keep your doctor, your lawyer and your accountant firmly in charge of their own departments.

Lal Kitab — "the red book" — is a 1940s Punjabi school of astrology with a strikingly modern temperament: no gemstones to buy, no elaborate rituals, no fear. Its two ideas are that a chart shows karmic debts, patterns you inherited and repay through behaviour, and that the fixes (upay) are small, cheap, repeatable acts of everyday decency — feed an animal, respect an elder, keep water by your bed. Think of it as a habit tracker written a century early, not black magic. Your reading includes the red book's verdict on every placement and its classical upay for the difficult ones.
Krishnamurti Paddhati, developed by K.S. Krishnamurti in the twentieth century, exists because classical astrology answers broad questions and people ask narrow ones. KP slices each sign into 249 sub-divisions and reads houses through Placidus cusps, so it can attempt a yes or a no: will this job offer land, will this match hold, when does the money move. Its home ground is timing and verdicts — marriage from the 7th cusp, career from the 10th, money from the 2nd and 11th.
